Earths Hum Vol. II - Out Now On Altar Of Waste

The incredible Altar of Waste Records has released Earths Hum Vol. II.

Label owner and all around incredible artist Cory Strand had this to say about it:

The second volume of an ongoing five-volume project dedicated to the HUM, Monuments Are No Good To The Dead's "Earth's Hum, Vol. II" is a devastating suite of mid-range static abuse and perfectly engineered walls of crunchy belligerence, staking claim in a space that I've heard few HNW acts work in before. The sounds here are jagged and knifelike, crumbling shards of mountain raining across a lightning-stained sky, falling into ravaged pockets of distressed and choking soil. The song of the earth is diseased and loping towards inconsequence, forgettability. Soon there will be naught but ash but before that great blank there shall be a reaping, a vision of scythes in the sky brought to life in full bloody and visceral exposition. Grind yourself into dust and ferment deep in the earth.
Based on a very real and haunting natural phenomena, MANGTTD's project gives voice to the death knells of a planet.

A more fitting and flattering description Monuments could not imagine.  Along with giving meaning to the static with these words, he also helped expand the artwork into something truly befitting of the vision.  Monuments can not thank him enough for his professionalism and generosity.

A copule of copies may be available here, but please support Altar of Wast by purchasing though him first here:

all. releases. available. for. download. now.

All of the releases previously mentioned are now up for download at the BandCamp site.

Split with The Phosphenes is done.  Blue Spectrum is putting together an artzine / mixtape (which also features another new track from Monuments), once this is finished copies will be available.

Demo on Petite Soles is due for completion in the coming weeks with his next batch.

Earths Hum Vol1 is next up on the plate for Claustrophilia Records as well and Monuments couldn't be happier to work with them.

Monuments would also like to feature more from Blue Spectrum here.  They have recently just launched a BandCamp and some of the releases are up there.  As soon as you get a chance, listen to I Almost Drowned. It is a brilliant spot of dark ambient noise that Simon truly has outdone himself on.

new. release. announcement.

Monuments is proud to announce the release of the first in a series of 5 monsterous concept walls:

The Hum is a mysterious and untraceable sound that is heard in certain locations around the world by two to ten percent of the population. Historically, the area that has been most affected by the Hum is the United Kingdom, where reports have been frequent since the early 1970s. In the United States, Hum reports date from the early 1990s, with the two most publicized locations being Taos, New Mexico, and Kokomo, Indiana. The source of the Hum has never been located. The Hum does not appear to be a form of tinnitus and may not be an acoustic sound. More than just a noise, the Hum is also capable of manifesting as vibrations felt throughout the body and is often accompanied by a suite of physical symptoms that includes headaches, nausea, and pain in the ears. Analysis of the largely anecdotal data that are available at the present time suggests that the most probable explanation is that some people have the capability to interpret radio transmissions at certain wavelengths as sound. It is well established in the scientific literature that people can hear electromagnetic energy at certain frequencies and peak power levels. Previous studies have found that a subset of the population has an electromagnetic sensitivity that is significantly greater than the mean. Several hypotheses are considered and discussed as possible sources of the Hum. These include cellular telephone transmissions, LORAN, HAARP, and the TACAMO aircraft operated by the US Navy for the purpose of submarine communications.

As early as I can remember I have been able to detect the sounds that aren’t present.  The unheard concert of the world around us.  The leftover babble from the detonation of the Big Bang.  Sound has always fascinated me.
From a young age I enjoyed the rhythmic pulses of mechanical things, the white noise when there was no station on the radio, the unrelenting drone of a fan moving air, the steadied “silence” of an empty house bending to the wind.   Noise appeals to me in this same sort of way, but allows me to silence the world and focus on the static.  This is what I wanted to evoke with this series of releases.  A set of walls that evolve continuously to allow the listener to zone out, but to also be captivated and wonder what might be next.
Earths Hum Vols. I – V are unfortunately not recordings of any mysterious phenomena, but they are manipulated, deconstructed, and destroyed field recordings of the areas around me, filtered through walls of distortion and modulation.
Art and music has been provided to Lorenzo (Nascitari) at the ultra harsh Claustrophilia Records from Italy and a release in the coming months on 15 CDr is in the works. A massive 31 minute shifting, pulsing, cosmic wall for your listening horror.

monuments. has. returned.

The response for more material has been humbling.

Two years is a long time.

Family has died. Children were born. Things look different through these eyes.

The world is still ugly. We’re all still damaged. We need catharsis. Find it in noise or find it nowhere.

New voids have been conjured.  The first physical release is officially announced as a split with prolific UK noise purveyor Simon Wilson (The Bloodletters, The Phosphenes, Blue Spectrum) on his spectacular Blue Spectrum Tapes. Wobbly tape manipulation VS harsh textural walls.  Edition of 14 CDr. Available soon.  Tracks up on BandCamp for streaming or free download.
Find Blue Spectrum Tapes here:

Old material returning to this plane.  The killer Petite Soles has kindly agreed to release the Death By Black Hole demo.  Massive evolving space walls as loud as possible.  This has been up online for 2 years now and has over 150 downloads.  Edition will be 15 3” CDr.  Available soon.
Petite Soles can be found here:
